MSM Lux sells premium furniture from a showroom in Satu Mare. The site looks and behaves like an online store, with a catalog, product pages, search, filters, variants and a cart, but nobody pays by card. A customer submits an order, picks cash on delivery or bank transfer, and the shop calls back to arrange the rest.

What I built

  • A catalog on Payload's e-commerce plugin: products with variants, categories, a listing page with search, filters and sorting, and product pages with galleries.
  • A cart and order flow backed by an offline payment adapter. Submitting creates a pending order that staff see in the admin, and the customer receives a confirmation email.
  • Order lookup for guests by email and access token, plus optional accounts with saved addresses and order history.
  • Content and routing prepared for four languages (Romanian, Hungarian, English and Slovak) through Payload localization and next-intl.
  • Card payment left wired but switched off, so the shop can turn on online checkout later without rebuilding the catalog, cart or orders.

Keeping 15 GB of photography affordable

The catalog holds close to 23,000 images, many uploaded straight from the camera at up to 36 MB each, and for a while the site was serving those originals. I added resized WebP renditions, capped stored originals at 2560 pixels, put long cache headers on media and limited upload size, so visitors get an image sized for their screen instead of the camera file.

Search engines

Product pages carry structured data and share images, and robots.txt is deny-by-default with explicit groups for the search crawlers and link-preview fetchers that should get through.
